    Faithful Direct Translation · Differentiated Register

    Every Hanja cluster is carried over, in the register the genre demands. Korean and English are produced side by side.

  3. STEP 03

    Restoring the Cadence of Academic Prose

    Facts stay intact while the prose recovers its rhythm. Honorifics and quoted speech are resolved; ambiguous titles get their referents named.

  4. STEP 04

    Footnotes That Carry Their Weight · A Glossary That Deepens

    Annotations land in seven defined categories, and new entries enter the glossary. The body itself is not touched here.

  5. STEP 05

    Inspector and Reviser

    Nine classes of defect are flagged, and only flagged spots are reworked — narrowly. Factual issues are escalated to human review.

  6. STEP 06

    Annotating Prose · The Final Pass

    Footnote bodies are written as academic prose; only Korean particles and English articles are touched in the last pass. Glossary identifiers remain intact throughout.

이달에 《훈민정음(訓民正音)》이 완성되었다. 어제서(御製序)의 내용은 다음과 같다. “나랏말이 중국과 달라 한자로 서로 통하지 않으므로, 백성들이 하고 싶은 말이 있어도 끝내 자신의 뜻을 표현하지 못하는 사람이 많다. 내가 이를 딱하게 여겨 새로 28자(字)를 만들었으니, 사람들로 하여금 쉽게 익혀 날마다 쓰는 데 편리하게 하려는 것뿐이다.”
